2010 Health Insurance Rates

Indiana Conference Board of Pension and Benefits Sets 2010 Health Insurance Rates for Active Clergy, Conference and Local Church Lay Persons and Local Church/Employers.

The year 2009 has been a year of transition for the two former Indiana Conferences.

Glass, Chalstrom Named Interim Superintendents

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Bishop Mike Coyner recently announced that the Rev. Ann Glass and the Rev. Marianne Chalstrom have agreed to serve in retirement as part-time District Superintendents for the Indianapolis East and Warsaw Districts, respectively, from July 1 through December 31.

United Methodists can Apply Online for Scholarship, Loans

Students who need financial help for college costs can now apply online for United Methodist scholarships or loans. The online scholarship application went live on Jan. 5. More than 2,000 applications had been submitted for scholarships for the fall term.

For the 2008-2009 academic year, General Board of Higher Education and Ministry awarded $4.57 million in scholarships to 3,371 students, and $1.95 million in loans to 430 students.

The applications have church and school wizards that enable the applicant to choose their current school and church from a list.

New Indiana Conference Selects First Associate Director

Fire Destroys Cabin at United Methodist Epworth Forest Campground

Fire destroyed Redwing, one of the cabins at Epworth Forest Conference Center in North Webster, Ind. on Jan. 14. The building was not occupied by guests and no one was injured during the fire. Shortly after lunch one of the facilities crew at Epworth Forest saw flames inside the window and began emergency processes.

Bishop Names Carmel Pastor, Calumet Superintendent to New Posts

Indiana Bishop Mike Coyner announced Jan. 12 he has named the Rev. Marion �Bert� Kite II, senior pastor of St. Mark�s UMC in Carmel, Ind., as the new Superintendent of Indianapolis West District for 2009 and then to become the superintendent of the new Central District in 2010.
