Youth In Mission: Opportunities

The General Board of Global Ministries is the mission arm of the United Methodist Church. Log on the the GBGM Website to find information about their work in over 100 countries.

US-2s

(Leadership development for ages 18-30) A two-year opportunity to serve in the United States, encouraging participants to deepen their faith while serving with community-based organizations.

Mission Interns

(Leadership development and social justice for ages 20-30) A three-year program divided between an international work/study assignment and an action/education assignment in the intern's home country.

Summer Interns

College students aged 18-30, who through a 10-week paid leadership program, work with United Methodist partner agencies in the United States in settings such as church-based community ministries, shelters, and youth camps.

Global Justice Volunteers

(Cross-cultural learning and service opportunities for ages 18-25) A volunteer experience of up to 6 months living and learning in communities worldwide alongside people whose lives are dedicated to justice work.

Bishop W.T. Handy Young Adult Missioners

(Mission service for ages 18-30) Young adults serving through a new program that places them in two-year full-time service assignments worldwide. The program includes the option of serving additional terms through age 30.

Individual Volunteers

(Service opportunities for young adult individuals and married couples) A two-month to two-year opportunity to do volunteer mission service in locations throughout the world.

Amity Foundation Teachers

(Teaching opportunities in China for young adults with a college degree) A two-year program of teaching English as a second language to potential English teachers in China.

Missioners of Hope

(Service to African children by persons 18 and older) Assignments for at least two years include rebuilding schools, training teachers, and caring for displaced and orphaned children.
