Allen County Jail Chaplaincy

This project brings the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the inmates of the Allen County jail. The Chaplaincy is responsible for Bible studies in the cellblocks, church services in the chapel, counseling of inmates and jail personnel, and substance abuse classes.

Associated Churches is 109 Christian congregations/agencies that serve as an ecumenical presence in Fort Wayne to show the unity of Christ in and between our congregations, to feed the poor, and to teach the children about the love of Christ. It represents 23 different Christian denominations who covenant together to make our community the very best it can be in the name of Jesus Christ!

Noble County church social services ministry to the economically and socially challenged. Approximately $28,500 was provided to 490 households in 2001 to assist with rent, utilities, food, clothing, medical and dental needs.

Fort Wayne Christ UMC Hispanic Outreach Ministries

Christ UMC Hispanic Outreach Ministries is an outreach ministry to the unchurched and churched Hispanic population in all of Fort Wayne, but targeted specifically to the South side of Fort Wayne. The focus is adults and children with as many children and youth as adults participating in the ministry. All aspects of this ministry are provided in Spanish and are culturally relevant to the Hispanic population.

This ministry is a growing Hispanic faith community that functions and operates out of South Wayne UMC in Fort Wayne.

Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater Ft. Wayne

Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater Ft. Wayne provides emergency housing for homeless families. The network can accommodate up to 14 guests at a time and works with them to help them obtain housing, employment, and any social service benefits for which they are eligible. We work closely with Vincent House and other local agencies that serve the homeless.

One Church-One Offender: Project M.O.V.E.

This ministry focuses on the unique challenges ex-offenders of color face as they attempt to reintegrate themselves with society and their families after extended periods of incarceration.

Parkview Hospital Chaplaincy Services

The Chaplaincy service provides pastoral care and support to the patients, patient family members, staff, physicians and volunteers of Parkview Hospital.

Project Help

Project Help provides food, clothing, personal hygiene and cleaning products, as well as free health care vouchers to low-income families in and around Steuben County. They provide a network for information and referrals. They also provide direct aid when individuals are denied by public assistance agencies.

Rescue Mission Men’s div.: Restoration House

Restoration House serves men experiencing a homeless crisis. We have recently expanded to 42 crisis beds. We offer assistance in finding housing and employment and have a community meals program and an intensive recovery/restoration program.

Rescue Mission Women’s div: Charis House

Charis House serves single women and women with children who are experiencing a homeless crisis. We have 42 beds within our living facility. We offer crisis housing, case management for finding housing and an intensive program for those recovering from addiction and/or trauma.

Retreat in Motion

Retreat in Motion is a bus retreat ministry, participating in activities such as work camps, disaster relief, and traveling retreats.

Robert D. Allen Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Robert D. Allen Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Dr. Allen and is given annually to a student (students) that have socio-economic reason(s) which limits their financial resources to attend educational institutes such as college, trade, or technical schools.

Samaritan Counseling Center

Pastoral counseling and psychotherapy for individuals, marital couples, and families in crisis; resource for clergy and congregations in areas of crisis intervention and conflict resolution; educational seminars in related areas; responsive to side-range of emotional and mental disorders, family dysfunction, relational conflict; services offered on sliding payment basis for low income families.

Vincent House, Inc.

The project provides transitional shelter for homeless families. The primary goal of the project is to help homeless families gain self-sufficiency and access permanent housing. Families who are employed are eligible for a housing unit in Vincent Village. While participating in Vincent House programs, families receive supportive services such as transportation, childcare, case management and life skills. Based on the Biblical directive of Matthew 25, Vincent House houses the homeless and provides basic needs such as food, clothing and services that will help these families become productive, independent members of the community.

YWCA of Ft. Wayne, Outreach/Education Services

YWCA Outreach/Education Services serve women, men and children in Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells and Whitley counties. The advocates meet with clients in their communities at a safe location outside their home. We offer individual and group support, professional case management, referrals, assistance with developing a personal safety plan, and transportation to the YWCA Women’s Shelter and necessary appointments. Outreach staff members also conduct educational presentations for businesses, groups, organizations, and schools.

YWCA of Ft. Wayne, Self-Sufficiency Program

The Self-Sufficiency Program (SSP) is a two-year transitional housing program for women with abuse in their past and for their children (up to the age of five). The participants of this program are expected to pursue an education, gain employment, or both. Other services offered include referrals to employment or other types of counseling, childcare, and classes in parenting, nutrition and personal finance.

YWCA of Ft. Wayne, Women’s Shelter

The Women’s Shelter provides immediate crisis intervention and safe shelter 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Victims of abuse can call the shelter’s 24-hour, toll-free crisis line to receive information, obtain referrals, or make arrangements to enter the shelter. A woman and her children can stay at the shelter at no charge for up to 30 days. While there, they receive case management, advocacy, support groups, assistance with developing a personal safety plan, referrals, and transportation, as well as, basic needs including food, clothing and personal care items. The shelter also provides services to male victims of abuse.
