GLOBAL MISSION PARTNERS PROGRAM

Global Mission Partners is an all-encompassing opportunity to participate in missionary support and mission interpretation through the General Board of Global Ministries. It is an integral part of the Covenant Relationship Program’s goal to meet increasing mission needs by expanding the number of mission personnel throughout the world who have clearly heard God’s call to serve in the name of the church.

To be recognized as a Global Mission Partners congregation means that a local church, youth group, district, or other unit must commit to: (1) support a missionary prepared, commissioned, and sent by the General Board of Global Ministries, and (2) support an international Person in Mission (PIM) who is named and sent by a partner church in a country outside the U.S. to serve in the same country or across national boundaries.

The legacy of United Methodist and other affiliated mission personnel over the past 200 years has left seeds of hope and fulfillment that have manifested themselves a hundredfold in spreading of the gospel and the explosion of church growth in over 60 countries around the world. Christ’s words of love and hope are being carried to untold millions by Asian, African, Latin American and European Christians in their own and other countries. GBGM mission personnel are part of a growing international missionary community experiencing partnerships with exciting new associates in mission. As the church rapidly expands in countries around the world, the need for indigenous leaders increases exponentially.

Participating in Global Mission Partners gives local churches the chance to confirm the work of our missionaries over the past two centuries and affirm the continuation and diversity of new mission personnel moving into the 21st century. It is also an opportunity to support the development and sending of local leaders everywhere.

Requests for mission personnel with pastoral, community service, technical and professional skills are received regularly by GBGM. The need for missionaries, both national and international to serve in the United States and in other countries is great. By supporting GBGM mission personnel and also Persons in Mission (PIMs) sent by partner churches outside the U.S., you commit to help spread the gospel, build up the church, and empower individuals and communities globally with the most with the most qualified leaders in any given situation. We hope you will join a growing number of congregations to become a flagship Global Mission Partners Church. A bright blue GMP banner with your church’s name on it will be sent for you to display proudly as a visible witness to your global mission partnership.
