The parable of the Great Banquet -- Luke 14:16-24
The banquet table still has room...there are yet more to be invited.
Why?
- Because over 50% of our conference's population is unchurched and God clearly cares about finding and saving the lost.
- Because our purpose is to make disciples for Jesus Christ.
How?
By first going to them...by intentionally making a place for them.
- NEW CHURCH. With the consent of the Bishop and Cabinet help establish a new congregation.
- SECOND WORSHIP SITE. With the consent of the Bishop and Cabinet, develop another congregation in a new location.
- START A NEW WORSHIP SERVICE especially designed to reach a new group of people, such as younger adults.
- START A NEW FAITH COMMUNITY, such as in a mobile home court, apartment complex, a YMCA, a prison, or a member's home.
Next Steps...
- Talk with your church’s leadership about this.
- Contact those in your church who have a passion for outreach and have them prayerfully consider who God may be calling your church to reach.
- Contact Ed Fenstermacher (800.783.5138 or ed@nicumc.org). He'd love to help you out--even if it is simply to pray for your effort!
- Contact your district superintendent and lay leader for their ideas, support, and prayers.
- Get on a conference mailing list to get updates of 2010 Plan projects and lift them up in prayer. Contact Ed Fenstermacher (800.783.5138 or ed@nicumc.org) to get on the list.
