Description

Spiritual Formation is:

  1. A life-long process, of
  2. Being conformed to the image of Christ

    "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation." Colossians 1:15 NIV

  3. By the gracious working of the Holy Spirit.

    "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." John 14:26 NIV

The function of this ministry resource team is:

  1. To promote spiritual formation and the development of the devotional life for families and people of all ages, clergy and laity, throughout the conference.
  2. To conduct seminars and training events in the areas of private and corporate prayer.
  3. To encourage and assist with the distribution and use of resources for spiritual formation as provided by The Upper Room and the General Board of Discipleship.
  4. To encourage every local church to have a prayer coordinator to promote prayer and mobilize the local church to pray.
  5. To encourage every local church to have a prayer room or designated place for prayer and prayer resources.
  6. To encourage intentional prayer for pastoral leadership of the local church.

Purpose

The purpose of this ministry resource team is to focus on the nurturing of individuals (lay and clergy) and congregations in their relationship with Jesus Christ including the development of ministries in spiritual disciplines.

We are transformed into God's image by: Prayer, Bible Study, Worship and Celebration, Christian Fellowship, Solitude and Silence, Confession and Repentance, Simplicity and Fasting, and Surrender to God's Will.
