Delegation Meeting Summary:
September 13, 2003

The North Conference delegation met on Saturday, September 13, at St. Luke’s UMC, Indianapolis, along with the South Conference Delegation. The combined group met first with Dr. Kent Millard welcoming the group and Frank Beard opening with prayer.

Bishop White officially convened the delegations, speaking on his intention not to attend delegation meetings and that he will not preside over any sessions during General Conference. The Bishop also expressed his deep respect for the General Church’s governing process. Our church will be very visible during this time. Delegates should come prepared, spiritually and by reading the necessary materials in advance.

The per diem was set. The delegations mutually agreed not to plan an Indiana Area Dinner during General Conference. Delegates were given the choice as to whether they want their email addresses published.

Nominees for the 2005-2008 North Central Jurisdiction On-Site committees are as follows:

Committee on Credentials:	Jim Ottjes, lay, North Indiana Conference
Committee on Journals:	Bert Talbott, lay, South Indiana Conference
Committee on Presiding Officers:	Ida Easely, clergy, SIC
Committee on Elections:	Cindy Reynolds, clergy, NIC David Crane, lay, SIC
Committee on Program & Arrangements:	Darren Cushman-Wood, clergy, SIC Pat Weeks, lay, NIC
Committee on Rules and Order:	David Byrum, clergy, NIC

The full slate was accepted and passed.

Each delegation then convened separately. Twenty-eight members were present and two joined the group in the afternoon. The main topic of discussion was the process for discerning an Episcopal candidate. Marianne Chalstrom, David Byrum and Frank Beard agreed to have some guidelines for discernment for the next meeting.

Prayer and meditation were led by David Byrum, delegation chaplain.

Prayer Request: Pray for continued discernment during the time leading up to the next meeting.
