Delegation Meeting Summary:
August 14, 2003

The delegation met on August 14, 2003, with 28 members present. Housing, transportation, budget and other basic topics made up the first half of the meeting.

Devotions by Rev. David Byrum based on 1 Timothy 3:1-3 followed a short break. The delegation then spent more than an hour praying, hearing from clergy who might offer themselves as candidates for the episcopacy and discussing the process for the decision.

The next two meetings will be critical in making this decision.

Prayer request: The General and Jurisdictional Conference Delegation are in a process of discernment as we prayerfully consider four persons who have emerged as potential episcopal candidates. We covet your prayers as we continue the discernment process and seek the unity of God’s Spirit within our delegation, Annual Conference and Church.

Upcoming meetings: September 13, 2003, at St. Luke’s UMC, Indianapolis, with South Indiana Conference Delegation; and October 2, location to be determined.
