This grant is offered by the North Indiana Conference to its churches for the purpose of assisting them in establishing a new worship service in order to reach and disciple a new population group.

A local UM church’s project that receives a grant must meet the following criteria:
- Must support the effort with at least the same amount of funds as the amount being requested.
- Must have full support of the church's pastor and administrative board or council.
- Be targeting a population group presently unreached by the church.
- Describe the group and substantiate (such as through demographic studies) that such a population is a viable target.
- Use a strategy that will effectively reach the target group given its unique context and culture.
- Have leadership that possess the necessary skills and training to effectively implement the project.
- Be willing to report its project’s progress to the Church Development Ministry Team.
Application Process
Completed applications should be sent to Ed Fenstermacher, Associate Director for Church Development and Revitalization, at the Conference Service Center. Copies of the application will then be distributed to Church Development Ministry Team members. Deadlines are February 15th, May 15th, and September 1st. It will then be considered at the committee's next scheduled meeting (within a month following the deadline).
After the Church Development Ministry Team hears each applicant, it will make a decision. This decision will be based on how well the applicant's project meets the above criteria. The decision can be for full funding, partial funding, or no funding. Applicants will be notified as to the committee's decision shortly after the meeting.
Applicants whose requests are denied can submit revised applications to the Church Development Ministry Team for its consideration at a future meeting.
