The Merit Award Scholarship is for any year of college. (These are usually $500-$1,000 depending on receipts of the United Methodist Student Day Offering. Will your church be taking this offering this year on November 30th or another Sunday appropriate to the local church?)

Guidelines for the Merit Awards are as follows:

Awards are to United Methodist undergraduate students who are or will be attending full-time an institution of higher education recognized as United Methodist by the University Senate.
Awards are for "merit." Merit can be in terms of academic scholarship, church involvement, financial need, special vocational preparation for ministry or other service. Financial need shall be demonstrated.
An applicant for the Merit Award shall be nominated by a local church (pastor and/or chairperson of Higher Education and Campus Ministry. A local church may nominate no more than one student annually.

The United Methodist related universities in Indiana are: DePauw University, University of Evansville, and the University of Indianapolis. It may be used at another United Methodist related school in another state.

Application Process

Applicants must complete all sections of the application form and submit them by April 4, 2008 to:

Applicants will be notified in May. Payment will be made to the student's account at the institution following certification of actual enrollment.
