Skill Areas

Those who are Commissioned Probationers working toward ordination are required by the Board of Ordained Ministry to take nine (9) continuing education events over the three-year period that they are in the track process. Under each course description, there are the skill areas noted by number. Even though a course might have more than one number, that course may only count toward one skill area. The corresponding numbers to the skill areas are as follows:

1. Relating to the culture of the congregation
2. Basic conflict management/resolution
3. Team ministry
4. Administration
5. Teaching
6. Pastoral Care
7. Communication and listening
8. Leading change with vision
9. Preaching, worship planning, and music
