The Ministry Development Program

Every local church in the North Indiana Conference makes possible this very fine program through the connectional system. Apportionment monies are used to support the Ministerial Education Fund. Seventy-five percent of all “M.E.F.” apportionments received go directly to the general church to support our seminaries, scholarship funds and ministerial education programs carried out by the Division of Ordained Ministry of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry. Twenty-five percent of the M.E.F. apportionments remain in the North Indiana Annual Conference and are used for our ministry development program, scholarship funds for “out of Conference” seminars, service loans to seminary graduates being received as Probationary Members, and the wellness program.

The Board of Ordained Ministry’s Division on Ministry Development selects “in house” seminars, which are described in this brochure. The M.E.F. monies carry the bulk of the cost of each event. The fees are those needed from each individual minister or couple to help meet the cost. When laity attend events designed for ministers, they pay the stated fees. Ministers under appointment are given a reduced rate, using the M.E.F. funds to cover the rest of the cost.

The following sections of material help identify specific seminars appropriate to the participant’s needs in their professional and spiritual lives:

  • Leadership Development
  • Spiritual Formation
  • Church Development
