Mission Work Experience with Team Training Session
Journey to D’Iberville, Mississippi, with other pastors and their spouses to serve the Seashore District in the reconstruction of homes. Interspersed in each day’s work schedule will be an educational presentation covering the various aspects of training necessary to successfully lead a work team on a domestic or international mission experience. A required orientation meeting will be held at Grace UMC in Rochester, IN, on March 3, 2007, from 10:00 – 11:30 with lunch provided. The mission trip will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2007. We will carpool to Birmingham, Alabama, and stay at a motel for the night. On Sunday morning the group will drive to Montgomery, where they will experience worship at the Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church and tour the facilities. Following lunch, the group will drive on to the D’Iberville Dormitory where they will stay. The return trip will have an overnight stay in Nashville, Tennessee. The first educational session will be on Sunday evening with a presentation by a Mississippi Pastor discussing the uniqueness of ministering in and through a natural disaster. Monday morning, following devotions and breakfast, the team will spend time at various worksites. After lunch each day, there will be an educational presentation. These will cover:
Following each educational session, the teams will return to a worksite. Each day will start and close with devotions. Each participant will receive one copy of A Training Resource Materials Notebook and a devotional guide called Prepare Your Heart. Note: NIC Clergy and spouses have preferred registration through December 31, 2006. Non-NIC pastors and laity may call in early to get on a waiting list. Space in the dormitory is limited.
