Dr. John Oswalt
Dr. Oswalt is back by popular demand! In the workshop, he will present an overview of the book of Isaiah with an emphasis on the unity of the book’s message, to contemporary hearers the way in which the book summarizes Biblical theology as a whole and suggestions for ways in which the perennial truths of the book may be presented.
DR. JOHN OSWALT is currently a Research Professor of Old Testament at Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi., a position he has held for seven years. Prior to that, he served on the faculty of Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Ky. for a total of 22 years. He has also taught at Barrington College in Barrington, Rhode Island, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois, and was President of Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky. He has written, or contributed major portions of, eight books, and a ninth is in press now. Among these, his two volume commentary on Isaiah in the New International Commentary on the Old Testament is perhaps the best known. Dr. Oswalt is an ordained elder in the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church and is in considerable demand as a conference, retreat, and revival speaker. He and his wife, Karen, have three adult children, one of whom is serving with his wife in missionary service in Russia.
