Planning Strategically in the Local Church
Assessing Your CommunityLed by Ed Fenstermacher In order to strategically lead, the leader must have a good sense as to the lay of the land. In the context of the church, this means understanding not only the church, but also, its neighborhood and community context. The Friday session will provide participants with practical tools that can be used to assess and analyze both their churches and their communities. Strategic PLanning Skill SetsLed by Dr. David Hendrix It has been said that if, in today’s changing world, an organization is not improving, it is in decline. This applies to all organizations….even churches. While religious organizations are different in their purpose, they are no different than their private and public sector brothers and sisters when it comes to the need of incorporate strategic planning as a way of doing business. Participants will, through discussion and practice, learn practical strategies for each of the required stages of strategic planning. In addition, participants will understand the importance of: translating priorities into measurable/observable outcomes; differentiating ends from means; the importance of being realistic; and most importantly, the use of strategic planning to focus the entire organization.
