Frequently-Asked Questions

Does my church need to sign up to use ChurchWeb?

No. Each church in the North Indiana Conference has a username and password already set up (see "I don't know my username or password" below).

I don't know my username or password.

Each church in the North Indiana Conference has a unique church number assigned by the conference. This number is used as the username for ChurchWeb. A typical church number is 5 digits, and ends with a 0 (zero) (some church numbers do end with a 5, however). If you do not know your church's church number, Look it up here.

If you have never logged in to ChurchWeb before, your initial password is the mailing address ZIP code of your church. Use the 5-digit ZIP code only (NOT ZIP+4 code). You are strongly encouraged to change your password once you log in to ChurchWeb for the first time. If the ZIP code you input still does not log you in, please contact Tech Support for help.

The Table 1 & 2 form does not calculate totals, and I get an error when I submit the data to save.

Certain proxy server settings will conflict with ChurchWeb and cause this problem. To fix this, follow these steps:

  1. In Internet Explorer, go to the Tools/Internet Options... menu.
  2. Click the Connections tab.
  3. If you use a DIAL-UP connection, select your dial-up connection from the list of available connections and click Settings...
  4. If you use a Broadband (DSL/cable) connection, click LAN Settings....
  5. If Use a proxy server is checked, then click Advanced.... If it is not checked, STOP and call Technical Support and we will troubleshoot this problem with you.
  6. In the Exceptions area of the window, type www.nicumc.org.
  7. Click OK 3 times to close out all of the windows.

I have the right church number and password, but still cannot log in.

ChurchWeb uses cookies to identify you when you log in. These cookies are destroyed when you log out. If your Internet security settings are set too high, you will be prevented from logging in to ChurchWeb.

To check your Internet security settings, in Internet Explorer go to the Tools menu, then choose Internet Options.... On the Security tab, make sure your Security level is set to Medium or lower. A setting of High will prevent you from being able to log in to ChurchWeb.

If your security settings are set properly, and you still cannot log in, please contact Tech Support at 1.800.783.5138 x35 or email techsupport@nicumc.org.

What is the minimum browser version I should use?

ChurchWeb was developed using Internet Explorer 6.0 & 7.0.

The following browsers have been tested (on the Windows platform only) for compatibility with ChurchWeb:

  • IE 6.0 & 7.0
  • Netscape 9.0.0.3
  • Firefox 2.0.0.7
  • Safari 3.0.3 (WINDOWS platform only)

Safari on the Macintosh has NOT been tested for compatibility with ChurchWeb, although it will probably work.

Other browsers may work as well, but will not have been tested on your particular browser.

Why would I want to use ChurchWeb?

ChurchWeb was developed as a tool for churches to input data online, and to keep their District Office and the Conference Office updated with correct contact information. ChurchWeb is still a work in progress, and is constantly under development. So far, here is a breakdown of the features available through ChurchWeb:

  • Charge Conference Forms In the Fall of 2003, we started experimenting with the online input of Charge Conference data, specifically with the input of the Personnel Update form. Many of you had complained that the PDF files were too hard to fill in, and that you had to fill them all in at once, or lose what you had input. Providing an online form for this information allows you to input as much information as you know now, and be able to come back later to fill in the rest. This is still in an experimental stage this year, but hopefully next year we will be able to add more and more Charge Conference abilities to ChurchWeb.
  • Check Day Forms The ability to fill in Table 1, 2, and 3 end-of-year reports online has been added to ChurchWeb recently. When you submit information online via ChurchWeb, the information is immediately retrievable by your District Office and the Conference Office.
  • Historical Statistics You can view selected historical statistics back to 1982 for your church.
  • Update Church Information (under development) You will be able to update certain information (service times, URL, picture of church, etc...) that is accessible via the North Indiana Conference's Church Locator.

I bookmarked a page and when I come back to it, I get an "Unauthorized Access" message.

You must go through the login process each time you use ChurchWeb. If you try to access a page within ChurchWeb without logging in first, you get the "Unauthorized Access" page. This is done in order to keep your data secure.

I've read this FAQ and I'm still having trouble. Who do I contact for support?
